Another Candle Burnt Out, Legend Never Did

In my previous article, I wrote about how I started to appreciate music at a very young age. The age where I learnt to speak. It was through my interest of music which help me learn words and often at times had me asking my parents what the singers were singing and what they had meant.

One of the earliest artistes that I got to know was none other than the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. I believe that nobody else I knew at that time was as interested in his songs as I was. The first song I heard from him and learned how to sing easily was the chorus from Bad. Other songs begun to slowly emerge in my shallow knowledge of music. These were the likes of Billie Jean, where he debuted his moonwalk. His awesome "anti gravity" lean in Smooth Criminal.

Black or White made sort of a bigger impact on me when the video showed on television. I can still remember McCauley Culkin starting the video and Michael Jackson being in many different countries doing different styles of dances and the famous face morphing scene towards the end, showing people of various ethnics.

I can still remember the first and with the best effects for a concert that I ever went to was the HIStory tour that had Kuala Lumpur as one of the destinations. It was in 1996 and I was 12 years old; Standard 6 Primary School. I went for the concert with my sister, where she also invited her friends to go along. I still remember that it was a Sunday because my sister and I would leave after church to meet her friends at Stadium Merdeka where it was held. Her friends were kind and crazy enough to camp out to be the first at the entrance of the stadium starting from 6 or 7 in the morning. We only joined them at around 1 or 2 in the afternoon bringing them food.

It was towards the opening of the gates where annoying assholes; meaning everybody behind us, were pushing us against the gates. As if killing us would make the doors open. In other lanes toward the other gates, people were falling down all over the place due to the people at the back trying to push forward. I seriously don't understand the logic until today. Being sensible we brought our own water bottles which we had to leave outside because the idiotic staffs at the gates said we were not allowed to bring plastic water bottles in because it was to prevent us from throwing it at Michael Jackson on stage. Yeah, most of us were only sitting at least 100 meters away. I am sure throwing bottles at somebody I paid money to watch was more important than making sure I don't die of dehydration.

The show was delayed so while waiting they were playing random songs through their sound system and there was one guy old white guy dancing around my side of the stadium to which caught the attention of the entire stadium and cheered at him. It drizzled a bit and I was praying like hell that it would not come to rain. Thankfully it didn't. The crowd got bored, after much chanting of wanting to see Michael Jackson, the crowd actually started doing the wave. From one end of the stadium to the other. We were equipped with our foam hand, at this point of time I realize that it could have signified Michael Jackson's right hand glove. We also had glow sticks which some us swung around on a string when we got bored that produced nice visuals. We were bored.

Of course eventually he came out and did his thing. The choreography as usual was always perfect except for one part when one of the back up dancers fell down while doing the "anti gravity" move during Smooth Criminal. Which was still entertainment. I remember my dad lending us our grandfather's binoculars to use as mentioned that we were seated far away. It was this huge relic that weighed like a brick and a half. Since it was huge, it also "zoomed in" pretty well.

All good things must come to an end. We left and made our way across the city from the stadium to Petaling Street. At night it seemed so different, I was following my sister and her friends going through alleyways as shortcut. I had not the slightest idea where we were going. All I knew at that time was to keep up with the group to rendezvous with my dad who was waiting somewhere to pick us up. That is as far as I can remember.

* * * * *

The media has made a lot of people believe a lot of allegations about Michael Jackson. I still find it amusing and sometimes annoying that people can easily believe any source with conviction just because they are from the news, mostly tabloids and internet articles.

I read an article that was relayed by The Malaysian Insider this morning and gained more insight on Michael Jackson's life and also come to agree with the writer in his views that I hope would dispel people's wrong perception of him.

I also hate the fact that people sought to make profits out of his death by selling his albums and merchandise.

If A Song Could Get Me You

I like how when I listen to a radio station or watch television long enough, I would actually come across some interesting songs that are worth adding to my playlist.

I was streaming Lite.FM yesterday and amongst the 80's music that they play, an unusual melody played and sounded very cute and... I don't know... endearing? It was Marit Larsen with her song from her current album and to me it had somewhat the essence of what made M2M. I guess she was the more cheerful happy one, if you compare it to the current Marion Raven.

Poetic Injustice

Marc is a somebody who shares my gripes and bitching about the idiocy that happens around here. He so happened stumble upon what the locals here call "poetry". Even he thinks they're shit; both poem and "poet". Oh Marc would like to point out that these people "only can write 'love' poems".

He decided to concoct up a poem from the top of his head which I thought was better than what most of them actually came up with. I did write an article bitching about it a long while ago.

Wonder Chicken

I wrote an article about BBQ Chicken last year, a Korean restaurant franchise. At that time the only outlet I knew was in Sri Hartamas; the rich people area. As time went on they opened in more places such as 1 Utama.

The three times I visited, I noticed an update to their menu which gradually improved. Now I am not sure if they have enough publicity or promotion going for the local one. I thought I would share this with you.

See why can't they make ads like these here?

F My Career Path

I was on my way to work when I an advertisement on the back of a taxi that was advertising a job seekers site with the tagline saying

"Even Web Developers Found A Job Here."

Now what the heck is that suppose to mean!? Also.. that's a very misleading and derogatory tagline.

Beef in the Outback Mate

Spent a lazy afternoon being lazy with Rayn, where we watched some animes and just talked throughout the day. We went to Outback Steakhouse for dinner since I had special discounts there. Since the place was Bangsar, it obviously had a sort of standard you would not normally get elsewhere as they have to serve gwai lous there.

I started off with a cup of the soup of the day which so happened to be cream of chicken and mushroom. They also gave us complimentary Bushman Bread which looked so much like chocolate cake. It was such an optical illusion that my taste buds were going "Yup that is definitely sweet."

Pleasantly surprised that it tasted like normal bread. The soup was pretty thick and chunky. It had lots of meat and mushrooms and veges too.

Quite a while after, arrived Rayn's Sizzling Sirloin that smoked our entire table with an aromatic caramelized onion scent.

The smell of it somewhat reminded me of teriyaki as it was on a hot plate as well as with onions. It was supposed to be medium but due to the sizzling hot plate, it somewhat made it more medium-well. I guess the secret to this in the future would be ordering it medium-rare.

Finally it was my order. The No Rules Burger which had everything they had for their burgers, though I asked them to hold the BBQ sauce on mine. I don't really fancy BBQ sauce on burgers. By default it has beef bacon, swiss cheese, BBQ sauce, grilled onions, lettuce & tomato, pickles & onions, sauteed mushroom and american cheese.

There is just something different about Outback Steakhouse's beef patty that taste different from other places. I find that Chili's, Outback Steakhouse, Carl's Jr. and Wendy's all have distinct tastes in their beef which are all delicious in their own way.

Needless to say I was stuffed. Of course we walked around Bangsar Village for a bit and proceeded to the Gardens and Mid Valley as Rayn wanted to walk around more. Would anybody like to revisit with me the next time around?

I Am Old

My idea of a good weekend is doing nothing. Staying in my room and just having a large intake of information and entertainment from all around the world. The ability to access all of these with my hands, wonderful.

I am a fat ass.

Value for Wang

It is not my fault that the local ISP choose to have such vulgarities in their... packages. I was checking out some websites and came across an advertisement about "Wang Value". To my humourous surprise, it came from TM. It appears to be a business specific service.

Don't take my word for it. Check out the site yourselves. One of their offer for your wang is even a 3 Party Conference!

Full Frontal Stupidity

I hate stupid people.
I hate them so much.
How can they be that stupid?
How can they live being that stupid?
Some of them won't admit they are stupid.
Some of them take pride in being stupid.
Some of them think being stupid is cool.
Some of them think being stupid solves everything.
Some of them choose to be stupid in hopes of evading responsibilities.
Some of them give excuses to justify being stupid.
Some of them are stupid and they don't know why.
Some of them are stupid and they know very well why.
Some of them are stupid because their friends are stupid.
Some of them are stupid because their parents are stupid.
Stupid isn't strong enough a word to express their stupidity.

Go die in a hole.

This Guy Ain't for Mars

So ironic that whenever I want to look for a particular item, it is never there. It feels like the shop people are out to get me.

"Oh you want to buy it now do you? We'll take it off the shelves. See how you like that? Always coming around and looking but not buying..."

I was looking for some Transformers: Animated action figures but all they had were the Transformers 2 movie stuff. I guess the movie is near to release and they want to promote it as much as possible at the moment.

After a futile attempt I proceeded to get some milk to replenish my stock in the office. At that counter, I just realized I forgot to get myself a Snickers bar. Taking a step backwards to be able to see the aisle where the Snickers was, I said to myself "Nah man, you've gone too far." While waiting for my stuff to be checked out, I looked down and saw a Mars bar.

I decided why the heck not, since the last time I had it was in fact in Australia as well and I had forgotten how it tasted like. It was kind of disappointing. It tasted like a Snickers with no nuts. It was too smooth and creamy and the nuts were missing. Yup. I love my nuts. It's just not satisfying without them nuts.

On the side of the wrapper had a slogan that read "A Mars A Day Helps You Work, Rest and Play." Sometimes I wonder what went through the mind of these marketers. The only thing I know it would help is with artery clogging and maybe diabetes.

* * * * *

Me: So Rzeznik earlier told me he got a ticket when he parked his car outside his student's house for 12 minutes.
Marc: Wtf? What was he doing there for 12 minutes? Why only 12 minutes?
Me: ... It only takes him 12 minutes?

In unison: oOoOoOOOoOOo

I kill myself.

Memories Come Crashing

I had a lot of memories at the Jaya building. As far as I can remember when I was few years old, that was one of the few places I ever knew to have a gaming arcade as well as a toyshop that had consoles for you to pay to play per hour.

Of course there were bad memories there as well, during a session playing the consoles there, I had actually lost my wallet which had even more memories in there, not to mention money of different currencies given to me by my mom. I was very upset about it especially because the wallet was a gift to me by my aunt in Singapore. I could not get over it for a while. That painful experience only made me strengthen my resolve to never be so careless to lose my possessions ever again.

Through the years the memories of experiences in that place became more and more ordinary, more trivial. I guess that was part of growing up. Farewell old Jaya. Hopefully you are built better and stronger.

Just Another Meh-nic Monday

I don't know why I keep writing about food. I guess it is something easy to write about as well as taking pictures of them since I am already there at the time. Subway appears to have raised their prices. Just when I felt like having a non-Sub-of-the-Day. Oh well the Steak and Cheese will have to wait some other time. Fortunately the Sub of the Day still remains at the same price. For now... if they dare raise the price, I will be avoiding them again.

Yes I am a poor man. I can't afford higher than average costing meals on a regular basis. The other problem is that cheap food in this country are not that healthy either. It is hard to maintain a healthy eating lifestyle while being poor in this country.

I miss the time when I was in Australia, I could eat all the food that was deemed unhealthy by my parents, and I still lost weight and even grew taller.

I feel like having a Snickers bar.

Moving along, it was almost back to normal at 1 Utama today where annoying humans were not overcrowding the place as well as taking up parking spaces. I guess some sort of holidays are over. Good riddance. Everything is peaceful once again.

Fail Foundry

I know I am very creative with article titles. Nothing much happened during this weekend. Though I am proud to announce that I managed to get Hamachi working again and my friends and I were playing Demigod a bit.

Photo linked from www.foodpoi.com

Rayn and I had dinner with my parents. My mom wanted to try the Food Foundry which I think was another less than a satisfying experience. My boss wrote a review here about 2 years ago and he seemed to have been kind with his ratings. Perhaps it was still decent back then. What I found amusing was that he wrote that the pasta was oily which was what Rayn said about her's, though it was a different dish.

Upon arrival we were given some makeshift menu. I assume they were trying to be creative but it did not "win me over". Looking at the prices of the dishes there, the first thing that came to my mind was the statement being that the food had to be really good or it had to be a rip off. Sadly, the latter was true.

I ordered the Food Foundry Chicken Chop while Rayn ordered the Penne Arrabiate and my parents had some rice dish with chicken. The chicken chop arrived, I was less than impressed. In fact the three letters of "double yoo tee eff" was having a rerun marathon in my head.

The portion of the chicken was small. It was accompanied by a sparingly amount of mash potatoes with some gerkins and brinjal. They were all very conversative servings. The chicken was not tender, it was lumpy and everything on the plate tasted bland. The watery sauce was doing it's best to provide flavor for all of it.

The waiter then brought Rayn's pasta. The waiter serves her the pasta and says to her that they ran out of penne so they substituted it with spaghetti instead. They assumed she would be okay with it and just served it to her face. That kind of pissed me off. What kind of establishment serves you something you did not order? Looking at it, the pasta sauce looked really runny and she commented that it was oily.

My parents' order were up next. The ironic thing was, their chicken servings was larger than mine. Theirs looked like some gourmet chicken rice. Just chicken, a few slices of cucumbers and the rice.

I actually saw frames of newspaper reviews about this place on their walls. Sometimes I wonder if there are shady things going on that actually get establishments like these publicized in newspapers.

Final thoughts are, The Mage Cafe serves tastier food with better portions at cheaper prices. Which will be my future review in weeks to come.

Dinner Overseas

Playing Demigod was fun until I realized it was 4am in the morning and I had a family dinner later in the day. It was my maternal eldest aunt's 60th birthday and they decided to have it at Overseas Restaurant. In Sri Petaling. Like it's name, it was far far away. My dad also decided to make the length of the journey even longer by taking roads cutting through housing areas instead of the highway.

Along the journey where we headed into Rzeznik's area and his kind, we passed by a few interesting road names. First we saw Jalan Lazat (Delicious Road), followed by Jalan Nyaman (Refreshing Road). Then we saw Jalan Hujan Emas... which in English was Golden Showers Road. Gross and ended with Jalan Perisa (Flavor Road). Seriously... Golden Showers? Whoever thought of road names in this area was really having a go at it.

The dinner was alright, the typical over expensive yet somewhat high quality X course dinner. Here are some highlights of the evening that was unique.

The ever imperative 4 seasons. This was one of the nicer variety I have had. Even by looking, it already looked appetizing.

Then there was the typical dishes that followed. Sharks fin, barbecue pork, fish, vegetables and so on. One of the two desserts was the most intriguing course of the night.

Rayn mentioned that this dish was actually in the event when the dinner is to celebrate somebody of old age where the designated person is to officiate it by breaking it (I think) where there are more pau's in there where all the other relatives of younger generations are to eat. I felt so tempted to wear it on my head.

One of my cousins and I were tempted to mutilate this wonderful craftsmanship but eventually could not bring ourselves to do it. It was carved from a carrot. A very huge carrot.

Total Eclispe of the Heart

Ever since I watched Futurama where there was one episode Kip sang the famous line from this song, I tend to find it funny everytime I hear this song as well as reminding me of how cheesy 80s music and videos could be.

I've seen other "literal" videos before but this one was quite funny too.

Behold Thy Incoming!

This year feels like one of the more eventful years I have ever had or can remember. For starters my beloved came back to me from across the sea. Though she should not have left me in the first place... Yeah I'm rubbing it in.

Having a safe and steady salary income is always welcomed and a blessing as well. Thus allowing me to build up wealth which in turn allows me to buy stuff. I am not the typical person of no strong will that would blow their cash on anything base on impulse and whim.

I can say almost every item I purchase is always done with meticulous research and analysis to ensure it is a purchase well made. Given bad experiences of purchasing stuff that don't always deliver as marketed. I am sure most of you as well have experienced purchasing items and as time went on, they seem to get more lackluster with each passing day.

Oh well enough about reflections.

Behold the list of things to look forward to for the second half of 2009!
  • Sony HDR-XR500E (Hopefully sometime next month)
  • Street Fighter 4 PC (Tentatively July 7th)
  • An air conditioner for my room (Sometime in this lifetime)
  • Blizzcon 2009 (August 21st to 22nd)
  • Windows 7 (Tentatively October 22nd)
  • A New Rig (Sometime after Windows 7 is out)
  • Left 4 Dead 2 (Tentatively November 17th)
  • Starcraft 2 (Speculations end of this year)
  • A Laptop (When I recover from getting the camera and the rig)
I am sure there are more which I have forgotten but that is quite a decent load of stuff to look forward to so far for this year. Speaking of welcoming the new stuff... I think I need to clear stuff in my room. Whenever my friends think of me, the first thing they think of is the mess in my room. It looks like a storeroom. My excuse has always been easy access to stuff like computer parts whenever I need to fix stuff; with harddisks here and tools there.

I need to clear stuff in my room to make way for newer stuff. I don't even know where to begin.

Relationsheep (Part Two)

Image is for illustration purposes only. Maybe...

I don't know why I keep going back there to read stupid dumb threads like a crack addict. Addicted to substance that kills your brains.

Have a read of this.

If you're too lazy to read that, here is my view and summary.

19 year old girl likes this 20 year old guy. Guy treats girl like crap and soon breaks up with her. Girl feels sad, so she resorts to hanging out with her friends. She enjoys hanging out with her friends because they do fun stuff together, including being a photography model for her friend.

Guy comes back and wants to take her back. She gladly accepts. Guy is now overprotective and possessive of the girl, not liking her to go out anywhere especially being a model for the photography sessions. Sometime in the relationship guy tells girl that he left her for another girl but now is back with her again. He also says things like he broke up with her to teach her a lesson. Says things like she will forever be a baby to him and it seems as though he has to control her every move.

She states in the thread, that breaking up is not an option and that she loves him very much. Despite him being a lousy piece of shit.

Can you actually believe there are people like these that exist? True that the girl may be admired for her unrequited love. However I think it is wasted on the wrong person. How can she not see that he is treating her like badly? Perhaps she has not experienced better relationships.

The core question remains, which is... Why would anybody want to love somebody who treats them like shit?

Trolley Train and Super Rings

While I was walking to work yesterday, some wankers thought it would be funny doing this...

I bet they thought they were bloody considerate, doing everyone a favor by stack em in one corner, far away from their origins.

* * * * *

During lunchtime today I went to the hypermart to get milk. Passing by one of the aisles I could not believe what I saw. It was none other than...

SUPER RINGS!!! I haven't eaten these in a long while. These have been around as far as I remember, which was way back in primary school. A small pack would only be 20 cents. These were my version of Cheetos. I'd eat it and have my fingers all coated in orange residue. It tasted awesome and it was light. My favorite junk food of all time!

Relationsheep (Part One)

Ah... relationships the ever so popular necessity that every young person wants. Most of them if you ask, will not even know why. They will not be able to give you good compelling reasons why they want a relationship. Stopping there would have prevented from anymore folly.

However when you ask them what about their partner or the person they are going after, attracts them. What qualities do they possess that makes you love and appreciate that person. Most of them will not have an easy time answering. Some people even go "Sigh, I need a girlfriend..." It is as though having a girlfriend is like acquiring an object for their pleasure, or like a pet. Like a being they can interact with at their leisure and discretion.

Some people are motivated to get a girlfriend/boyfriend so that they will not feel left out within their circle of friends. They feel that having a partner eliminates them from being classified as some sort of loser.

You know what, I don't really care anymore about your reasons as to wanting to have a partner.

What I don't get is... why would people treat the one they love, badly? Why would they scream at their partner or throw tantrums? Why do they threaten them? Why do they expect or force them to feel guilty and make them "pay" for it? Is that what love is?

I am sure some of you have read about the latest scandal that happened in the country that involved a young foreign model and a local royalty. Whereby the latter mistreated and abused the former so badly that she had to escape, fortunately with the help of authorities... of a neighboring country. I don't know about you, but if I was married to a young model 14 years younger than me, I would treat her so preciously. In these days who would want to marry somebody who is 14 years older than them, if they did not have money or power? So yeah think about it... instead of being grateful and appreciative (I went to school!) he abuses her. There is seriously something wrong with him.

What about those girls that treat their guys like slaves or ATMs? I've heard excuses from girls before that go something like "If you love me, you would [insert action here] for me." They never ever show their "love" for their guys in return. Ever. If they were trying to prove they did, it is usually because it was on their way. A matter of convenience for them to ride on.

Why do girls expect their guys to do certain things for them? As though it is mandatory in relationships? If you ever want to point out that your partner is not "doing enough" for you, you better be able to back up that claim with what you have done for your partner. If you can't, well then just stfu. You are in no position to make any demands. There shouldn't even be any demands from either sides.
